Privacy

Quiet Picks is a small library; we collect very little, and only what is needed to understand whether the library is reaching the right readers. This page lists exactly what we collect, why, and how to remove it.

Analytics

We use a lightweight analytics setup (Cloudflare Analytics Engine plus, on selected pages, Google Analytics 4). These tools use cookies and localStorage but never receive personally identifying information such as your name, phone number, or address.

Data we collect

  • An anonymous visitor ID (localStorage, expires in 13 months) and session ID (cleared when the tab closes)
  • Pages visited, dwell time, scroll depth, and exit points
  • Referrer (origin URL, search engine, UTM parameters)
  • Coarse geographical region (country, state/prefecture, city), via Cloudflare
  • Device class (desktop / mobile), browser language, screen size, time zone
  • Clicks on affiliate links, PDF downloads, and print actions

Reader profile (opt-in only)

If a reader chooses to fill in the optional "reader profile" survey, we collect the following — all of it optional, and none of it required to use any feature of the library:

  • Age band (in ten-year ranges)
  • Gender (free choice, including "prefer not to say")
  • Household composition (single, couple, with children, etc.)
  • Children's age band, if applicable
  • Place of residence (country, state/prefecture)

This data is used only to guide editorial priorities; it is not shared with third parties. Clearing your browser's localStorage removes it at any time.

Affiliate programmes

When affiliate links are present, the underlying advertising network (e.g. Amazon, ShareASale, Awin) may set cookies to track attributions. These cookies can be cleared or disabled through your browser's settings. See the disclosure page for the list of programmes in use.

GDPR & CCPA

Readers in the European Economic Area and California have the right to request access to or deletion of any personal data we hold about them. We do not sell data. Requests can be sent to the contact address below; we respond within 30 days.
